That’s a picture of my uncle, Captain Sean Bercaw, at ten or thirteen years old, about to launch a message in a bottle. He’s been doing that for forty years, and he’s heard back from dozens of people all across the world. He just got interviewed for NPR’s Talk of the Nation. That’s pretty cool.
(My family on my mom’s side used to accidentally call me Sean when I was growing up, due to the blond hair and general roguishness, I suppose.)
